Our colored gemstones are imported from various mines all over the world. We import much more than the common diamond or ruby.
Note the beryl family of gems in the lower left of this picture. Four of its members are green emerald (birthstone for May), pink emerald (known as morganite), golden beryl (known as heliador), and aquamarine (a pale blue emerald and birthstone for March). Just above the beryls, you can see we have garnets (birthstone for January) from the mines of India. While these garnets are rose colored, garnets may also be orange and even green (tsavorite). Above the garnets we find a few members of the quartz family. These being purple amethyst (birthstone for February), citrine (a yellow to gold quartz), and the rare simultaneously occuring combination of the two known as ametrine. In the far upper left we note a rare red sun stone from Oregon.
Looking to the bottom center, we find two popular members of the corundum family of gems, these being red ruby (birthstone for July) and sapphire (birthstone for September). Sapphires are known to occur in many colors. Above the ruby and sapphire, we note the majestic blue of London topaz (birthstone for November). Topaz may also be found in the colors of gold, pink, and pale blue. Over the topaz, we see the minty green of peridot from Pakistan (birthstone for August). Above the peridot we have some fine tansanite from Africa. To the bottom right of this photo are a few colorful Australian opals (birthstone for October). These particular opals were cut and polished in our own shop. Above the opals are tourmalines.
This photography does not do justice to the beauty of these colorful jewels from the mines of Brazil. These gems, and thousands more, we regularly import direct from the mines of origin to provide below wholesale savings.
